In partnership with Blackpool Council, Cassidy and Ashton and Conlon Construction, Highfurlong School today opened it's new £4.8 million building. The build is a result of increasing demand for special school places in Blackpool and will see the number of pupils rise from 105 to 164 (over time). The new two story building boasts a purpose built life skills room, classrooms and community provision. This includes a cafe (due to open early 2025) and enterprise shop.
Neill Oldham, CEO of Synergy states: "The work to expand the school is a big step forward to meeting existing and future local needs and will help to ensure that we can locally meet the requirements of children with complex physical and medical disabilities. It will also provide important key learning and support environments to further enhance an outstanding school and help facilitate the transition of pupils through teenage into adult life.”
Phase 2 of the build includes a brand new Hydrotherapy pool which is due to open late November 2024.
